So Hawaii has definitely been an experience. Never would I have thought in my entire life that I’d be living in such a beautiful place in the span of almost a month. It’s been a super busy trip filled with lots of work, but I can’t complain about it purely based on the fact that I’ve been able to soak in one of the world’s most beautiful locations. More than a few times already, I’ve caught my jaw dropping at scenery that you could only imagine seeing through the skillful eye of a photographer. It’s one thing seeing these images in National Geographic, but another being able to experience it personally. It really is like no other.
With that in mind, I’ve been able to fire a few shots with the trusty little Iphone and a few awesome apps like Tiltshift Generator, Photogene, and the recently purchased Shakeitphoto. All must have photo apps for the Iphone in my opinion. Anyhow, aside from uploading most of them to my flickr account, I’ll be posting a few of my favorites here. Enjoy!
So despite all the craziness going on right now, I actually managed a little bit of time to put together something for Vimeo’s current weekend project, the 1 minute video. I believe that taking yourself away from work to make time for creative projects like this is very soothing. I strongly believe that out of our personal creative pieces, we tend to put out our best (in most cases).
This weekend’s guidelines requested that each video be an exact minute with no edits and no camera movements. 60 seconds of pure raw footage. Without too much thought, I knew I wanted to capture the movement of dye through water. Slow and graceful with beautiful saturation, I personally felt that it could capture my attention for 60 seconds at the least. As for sound, Vimeo requested original sound so I just had a track entitled “Bird Song Intro” by Florence and The Machine playing in the background.
So UPS had a little surprise package for me last Friday, and low and behold it was the 7D. Had placed a preorder with Service Photo in Maryland about a week prior and was surprised that they actually had allotment to ship one off to me considering how late I got in on it. Nonetheless, it was a pleasure dealing with them.
As for the camera, I’m loving it so far. Looking to hopefully score on a Zoom H4N and a Z-Finder from Zacuto within a few weeks to hopefully supplement the 7D.
Anyhow, enjoy my first go at the 7D. It’s a short edit so it’ll be painless, I promise.
This is merely an extension of random thoughts and interests I find on a day-to-day basis. Most of it will be about food, film, friends and more food, but what the hey, it only makes sense because that's what I love. Most importantly if anything on here becomes of interest to you, I can say, "I told you." Enjoy!
