So despite all the craziness going on right now, I actually managed a little bit of time to put together something for Vimeo’s current weekend project, the 1 minute video. I believe that taking yourself away from work to make time for creative projects like this is very soothing. I strongly believe that out of our personal creative pieces, we tend to put out our best (in most cases).
This weekend’s guidelines requested that each video be an exact minute with no edits and no camera movements. 60 seconds of pure raw footage. Without too much thought, I knew I wanted to capture the movement of dye through water. Slow and graceful with beautiful saturation, I personally felt that it could capture my attention for 60 seconds at the least. As for sound, Vimeo requested original sound so I just had a track entitled “Bird Song Intro” by Florence and The Machine playing in the background.
Hope you enjoy…
This is merely an extension of random thoughts and interests I find on a day-to-day basis. Most of it will be about food, film, friends and more food, but what the hey, it only makes sense because that's what I love. Most importantly if anything on here becomes of interest to you, I can say, "I told you." Enjoy!
Mike, your talents never cease to impress! Ever tried this sort of thing with egg, oil, and water? Dye moves through their varying densities at different speeds.
Thanks man! I think I’ll try out your suggestion sometime in the future.
What a great video, I Told You! I played my own music and put yours on mute while I watched your video. Epic. It was so relaxing. Idea: What if people remixed music to match your video based on how they thought it should “sound”? That would be so cool.
I agree with what you said about making time to recharge with the creative things in life that we love to do. So true and not done enough by most people.
Thanks Brendon! That would be a pretty interesting idea actually, having people match their own personal choice of music. It’d be interesting to see what their take on it would be!
