A couple months ago, I shot some video to cover the Iran Freedom March that had occurred in Westwood. I’m not going to go into detail as you can see the video here. Needless to say I really dug a few of the shots I was able to pull off. This is one of the frame grabs that I personally loved.
I have to admit one of the benefits working in Downtown Long Beach is being just a block away from the pier. Spent the weekend here to try out a new restaurant and then took a little stroll on the pier with my girlfriend. I totally love taking snaps with my iphone.
Shot in 2006 during winter in New York, I got a chance to spend three days with the stylist, Josh Madden. I’ve been to New York a couple times previously, but this trip was different in a sense where I got to experience it through Josh’s eyes. I had never met Josh prior and it was such a pleasure to meet someone who was welcoming and not so pretentious. Very intelligent and well-spoken, Josh schooled me on various things which included music, food, style, and even a little on life in general.
Of course following him around for three days meant meeting a few of the significant people in his circle. Aside from his lovely girlfriend, Lisa, and his pooch, Hiro, I also got to meet Junior Sanchez, Sarah Lewitinn aka Ultragrrrl, and Rock & Roller, Jimmy Webb of Trash & Vaudeville. All of whom where very interesting characters that were pleasant to speak to.
With all this in mind, even though this piece was shot for the Hay Fam Show, it’s become more of a memorial and personal piece for me. Enjoy!
This is merely an extension of random thoughts and interests I find on a day-to-day basis. Most of it will be about food, film, friends and more food, but what the hey, it only makes sense because that's what I love. Most importantly if anything on here becomes of interest to you, I can say, "I told you." Enjoy!
